As the Winter Season is fast approaching, more and more people are talking about boots. One particular boot comes to mind, Uggs. These boots have been around since the early 1920’s, but within the past few years have made their mark on the United States. They are considered a unisex boot, which can flatter either male or female.
One of the special features of these boots is they are made of 100% sheep skin. They are durable and made for colder climates to keep the feet nice and warm. There is some discrepancy as to where the boots originated either Australia or New Zealand; it was the 1990’s that brought them to the US.
The inner layer of Ugg boots is a nice soft fleece. Many people do not like the fact that the boots are made with sheepskin. The reason sheepskin is used is because it gives thermostatic control to the boots. While the climate in the US is not as cold as some of the other countries, people still enjoy using them for the colder winter months. There are a few of the Uggs, which are made from kangaroo fur or leather rather than sheep. Due to the protests by animal activists, a synthetic boot is produced. However, the industry considers these fake and their sales have not been impressive.
No matter where one lives or what they do, Ugg boots are popular for one reason, because they look good and they feel great. These well made boots have been around for a long time and from their popularity, they are here to stay.
